Shanghai Roosevelt Club has spent more than a decade building one of the largest collections of Chinese wine in the world. Since our earliest days, we have held a simple conviction: Chinese wine belongs on the same table and in the same conversation as the great wine regions of the world. As the Chinese wine industry has matured, we have continued to celebrate its growth, championing the ambition and world-class quality now coming out of every corner of the country.
What started as China Wine 300 — Roosevelt's campaign to carry the widest selection of Chinese wines — has grown past that milestone. Our list today includes over 400 Chinese wineries, spanning established names and small-production estates producing world-class fruit. It is one of the most complete surveys of Chinese wine anywhere, and it continues to grow as the category itself grows in ambition and quality.
Shanghai Roosevelt Club hosts the Chinese Wine Sommelier Competition, where the country's top sommeliers compete for the title of China's best. The winner is awarded The Roosevelt Cup, our way of recognizing and elevating the talent behind China's fast-growing wine culture.
This blind-tasting competition is inspired by the 1976 Judgment of Paris, when California wines outscored France's finest labels and reshaped the world's understanding of where great wine could come from. Rather than restage that moment, we celebrated its 50th anniversary by asking the same question of today's leading New World regions: Australia, China, and the United States. Chinese wine went into the same blind tasting as two of the world's most established regions, judged on identical terms.
Shanghai Roosevelt Club is bringing its collection to Hong Kong. Our newest wine cellar, located in Central, continues to celebrate Chinese wine, carrying an extensive selection of labels for both the connoisseur and the curious. It's built to satisfy the discerning palate of wine experts while introducing a new generation of casual drinkers to the depth and diversity Chinese wine has to offer.
